Jan Hendrickse is a performer, composer and sound artist. He employs a wide range of materials and strategies in his work including the use of found sound and electronics. His compositional approach is balanced by a commitment to improvisation and he frequently works in relational and collaborative environments. He is also interested in the effects of sound on matter, as well as human physiology and consciousness.
Jan’s current work includes working on a commission for Sound Waves Festival in Brighton, co-managing New Music Incubator, an international professional development project for contemporary performers and composers funded by PRS foundation. He is an ACME studios’ Artist in Residence and an SPNM (Sound and Music) shortlisted Composer. He also teaches at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
